Terms of entry

These terms cover applying for the Maverick NEXT Impact Award and, if you are selected, taking up a fellowship. Applying means you are happy with what follows. The Award is run by Maverick1000, Maverick NEXT, Maverick Business Adventures and 1000 Suns Nonprofit.

Who can apply

• You are building something you believe the world will still care about in twenty years
• Your 30th birthday falls on or after 1 January 2027
• You are running a real business, with demonstrable funding, revenue or impact. Side projects and ideas at concept stage do not qualify

Applying is free

There is no cost to apply and no cost to accept a fellowship. We will never ask you for a fee to be considered or selected.

How selection works

Five fellowships are awarded. Applications are reviewed in monthly rounds and we keep going until all five are filled, at which point applications close. This is not a prize draw or a competition of chance: selection is a judgement made by the people running the Award, and their decision is final. We may choose not to award all five if we do not find the right people.

Some applicants who are not selected for a fellowship may be invited to join Maverick NEXT another way. Being selected for neither is not a judgement on you or your business.

What a fellowship includes

A full year inside Maverick NEXT, including regular community calls, access to the Maverick 1000 network, and a place at the four-night Impact Experience in the British Virgin Islands from 19th to 23rd March 2027, including a day on Necker Island. Membership starts in January 2027.

Your place is funded by our supporters. Anything not expressly included, such as your own travel arrangements, insurance, visas and personal spending, is your responsibility. If you are unsure whether something is covered, ask us before you apply.

Things that may change

Dates, locations, activities and who attends can change, and events can be affected by things outside anyone’s control. We will tell you as soon as we can if plans change. A fellowship is personal to you and cannot be transferred, sold or exchanged for cash.

What we ask of you

• Tell the truth in your application. If information turns out to be materially inaccurate we may withdraw a fellowship
• Treat the other founders, hosts and partners well. We may end a fellowship if someone’s conduct makes the experience worse for others
• Respect what is shared in confidence in the room, on calls and at the Experience
